How We Run Our RV Blog on Swiftrics (and Edit It With Claude)

  • Published on

This website runs on Swiftrics. Every video post, gear review, recipe and campsite page you can click on here was built and published with it. Before anything else, the disclosure that matters most: Swiftrics is Nathan's company. His company, Pelton Solutions LLC, builds it. So this is not a neutral review from a customer who stumbled onto a tool. We use it every week, it is also ours, and you should read everything below with that in mind.

Disclosure: Swiftrics is made by Pelton Solutions LLC, Nathan's company, so we benefit when you sign up. The links on this page go to swiftrics.com, and our code NOMADSAMOR4 gives you 10% off. We only write about tools we actually use, and this whole site runs on this one.

Our code: NOMADSAMOR4. Enter it when you sign up for Swiftrics and you get 10% off your plan, forever. It works on the Starter, Growth and Pro plans.

What Swiftrics is

Swiftrics is a website builder for small businesses and creators. You write pages and posts in an editor, and when you publish, it exports the whole site as plain static HTML and serves it from a CDN. Your domain, hosting and SSL certificate come with the plan, so there is no separate hosting account to set up. It also covers the SEO basics we would otherwise be fiddling with: page titles and meta descriptions, a sitemap that is rebuilt every time you publish, and the preview image and text that show up when someone shares a link.

What we like most, living in an RV, is that there are no plugins to keep updated. When we are parked somewhere with one bar of signal, the last thing we want is a site that needs maintenance before we can post a video.

How we use it day to day

Everything on nomadsamor.com lives on it: our video posts, gear reviews like our Starlink write-up, how-to guides, recipes, the campsite pages, and Our Partners. The site is in English and Brazilian Portuguese, and both languages live on the same site.

A normal week looks like this:

  • New videos become posts. When a new video goes up on our YouTube channel, it becomes a blog post here that same week, with the video embedded and a write-up underneath.
  • Short links and QR codes. The QR codes in our videos point at short links on our own domain, like nomadsamor.com/swiftrics. Those are redirects we manage in Swiftrics, so when a deal changes we update where the link goes and the QR code in an old video keeps working.
  • Publishing. Edits wait in the editor until we publish. Then the whole site goes out as a fresh static export.

Editing the site with Claude

This is the part people ask us about. Swiftrics has an MCP connection, which is a standard way to let an AI assistant work inside an app. We connect Claude, Anthropic's AI assistant, to it. You sign in with your Swiftrics account, so there is no API key to copy and paste anywhere. After that, Claude can read and edit the site much the way we would in the editor.

These are the kinds of things we ask it:

  • "Add our new video as a post in the YouTube section."
  • "Write a draft post from these notes. Leave it as a draft so we can read it first."
  • "Our coupon code changed. Find every page that mentions it and update it."
  • "Add a new partner card to the Our Partners page, same layout as the others."
  • "Check this post for broken links and fix them."
  • "Tidy up the SEO title and meta description on this post."

Claude makes the change, and then we look it over before anything goes live. Nathan still reviews what goes out. It saves us a lot of clicking, but it is a helper, not an autopilot, and the review step is there because an AI can get a detail wrong. The AI connection uses Swiftrics' API access, which comes with the Pro plan.

Who we think it is good for

In our opinion, Swiftrics fits creators and small businesses who want a fast site and do not want to look after WordPress. No plugin updates, no separate host, and no server to worry about. If your site is mostly pages and posts, which describes a lot of YouTube channels, blogs and local businesses, it is worth a look.

If you depend on one particular WordPress plugin, check that Swiftrics covers what it does before you move. And yes, we are biased, which is why we would rather you try it than take our word for it. There is a 14-day free trial (it asks for a card at signup), and the code above still applies when you subscribe.

If you are curious about the rest of the gear behind the channel, our filming and internet tech roundup covers the cameras, the drone and the internet that get each video from the campsite to YouTube.
