We usually overnight for free at Walmarts and Cracker Barrels. We came here the day after the tightest campground we've ever had, Louisville North, and the first thing we said was how much space there was.

Big rigs: we stayed hitched

The site was long enough for our 40-foot fifth wheel and the truck together, and close enough to level that we stayed hitched and put the slides out for the first time. Blocks under the low side took care of the rest. On a one-night stop that saves a lot of setup. Here's how we stay hitched overnight.

Hookups, power, and internet

Water ran clear through our Blu Tech filter. We didn't even plug in the electric, because the solar was above 60 percent when we arrived. The site has both 30- and 50-amp service if you need it. With no trees around, Starlink and our phones both worked great.

What's there

A playground, a tennis court, a fenced dog park, and a fire pit at our site. The booking description says the check-in building has laundry, showers and restrooms, but the building was closed when we were there and we never found the laundry. If you need it, call ahead or arrive during office hours.

The diesel discount

Love's takes the Open Roads fuel discount. The pump said $5.68 a gallon, and with Open Roads we paid $4.64, about $1.20 a gallon less. Filling a diesel truck takes a real bite out of the site fee.

One thing to know

At night, with lights on inside, you can see right into the neighbors' RVs, and they can see into yours. Close your shades once it gets dark.

Would we stay again?

For a travel day, yes. You get a long pull-through, power, water, and cheaper diesel in one stop. It's a one-night stop, not a destination. The whole night is in our Love's RV Stop video.
