Quick facts
- Where: Louisville North Campground, Clarksville, Indiana, just across the Ohio River from downtown Louisville.
- Cost: about $55 a night. Six nights came to $353.10 with tax (2026).
- Type: private RV campground.
- Our site: a 50-amp, full-hookup pull-through.
- Starlink and cell: both great. No trees in the way at our site.
- Big rigs: tight. We fit our 40-foot fifth wheel and truck, barely.
- When we stayed: six nights, May 31 to June 6, 2026, during the week.
We picked Louisville as a work stop between South Carolina and Wisconsin. The location was great. The campground was the tightest we've ever stayed in.
Getting in: follow their directions
Before we arrived, the campground emailed us directions and a warning about a street with a low bridge, about 10 feet. Follow their route, not your phone's. The whole drive is in our Louisville travel day video.
The site
Our pull-through was a little short for the trailer and the truck together, so we crammed it in and the truck ended up partly in the road. Our water hookup was right by the neighbor's steps. Getting out would have been hard; luckily our neighbors had already left by the time we did. If you're long, ask for a site where you won't depend on the neighbors moving.
The upside of our spot: no trees in the way, so Starlink and our phones worked great all week, which mattered because we were working.
Foot traffic
Our site sat between the back row and the campground store, and people walked right past our windows all day. It was startling at times. When we were there, people didn't really treat the campsite as private space.
What's nearby
Downtown Louisville is minutes away across the river. We went to the Conrad-Caldwell House, the Louisville Zoo, and the fossil beds at Falls of the Ohio. We worked weekdays, and a lot of the city seemed to pick up Thursday through Saturday.
Would we stay again?
We'd come back to Louisville, but we'd pick a different campground, even one 30 minutes out. Our next stop was the opposite: a roomy pull-through at the Love's RV Stop in DeMotte.
